1906 Vintage Wingold Flour Premium Song Booklet:
Old Favorite Songs--With Compliments of
Bay State Milling Co.
Winona, Minnesota

Wingold Flour was a product of the Bay State Milling Co, Winona, Minnesota.

In their opinion, they had "The Finest Flour Milling Plant in America . . . absolutely FIRE, GERM and VERMIN PROOF . . ."
Unfortunately, we can't say the same for the song book. The cover edges were definitely sampled by some vermin sometime in the last 95 years.

Cover
The inside pages, though brownish from age, appear to be complete and intact.

The Bay State Milling Co. was not shy about making claims. The title page states, "These songs are the best that have ever been written. They are the songs that are loved most and are the delight of every home. This is the only publication that has this complete collection."

Spread

The Copyright date is 1906, and maybe in 1906 all of these songs were wildly popular. I have heard of many of the 49 songs that appear on the 32-page booklet, such as:
America
Auld Lang Syne
Battle Hymn of the Republic
My Old Kentucky Home
We're Tenting Tonight

...but then there are songs like these:
Come With Thy Lute
Flee As A Bird
Just Before the Battle, Mother
Kathleen Mavourneen
and
Uncle Ned
to name a few. Somehow I doubt that many of us would identify those today as "the delight of every home."

The lady on the cover art sits at the piano ("used by permission, Campbell Art Co.), apparently playing "Love's Old Sweet Song" as she gazes wistfully through an open window. The Wingold Flour logo appears on the inside front cover.

You won't buy this for its condition, because the cover is sadly chewed; but if you are nostalgic, and especially if you are nostalgic about Wingold Flour from the Bay State Milling Co., Winona, MN, this may be your chance to own a piece of ephemera related to that company.
