We started out as Travel Genie Maps and Books in 1985; enlarged to Travel Genie Books, Maps, and Gifts; sold the store in 1995 and went online in 1996 as Travel Genie Maps. When you go back to the Home page, note there are two different images: the link to the FAQ page was "then", made about 1996; the image above is "now". And "now" here we are, moving closer to full retirement.About Our Retirement from Travel Genie Maps
Yes, it's true, this is our 25th and possibly the last year we will be the "Travel Genies" of Travel Genie Maps.
You have already noticed some changes if you have been a customer for a period of time, notably:
We know our Norwegian customers will be especially affected by this. Travel Genie started because we had been frustrated with our own genealogy research and, in traveling to Norway, we discovered the marvelous M711 series of maps that show many farm names. We have had many good conversations with others doing Norwegian research, and like to think we have been helpful to some in locating those difficult place names. That's been the most enjoyable country to work with for us, and the one we are still continuing for the time being.
Thank you to all of you for your interest in Travel Genie Maps. We haven't completely hung up our hats yet, but you Norwegians, don't put off contacting us, and the rest of you, please check with Apple's Attic for discontinued and out-of-print maps we may still have available.
Takk for alt!
